‘We are pleased!’ the king said, brushing gingerbread crumbs off his beard.

‘Hansel, Gretel, henceforth you will be the sole gingerbread purveyors to the court.’

Gretel smiled, touching the witch's cookbook in her pocket - the cornerstone of their future success.

Oh, clever little Gretel. It makes sense that you would have a cookbook for a most tasty house, so why not steal it after murdering the witch (let's be honest those kids did break in!) :)

I adored this! It was humorous and a bit dark at the same time. I love the idea that the children benefited from their ordeal.
